Frequently Asked Questions About Mobility Care

Mobility in care refers to supporting people with movement limitations, helping them maintain independence through safe transfer techniques, mobility aids, positioning support, and adaptive strategies that enhance quality of life whilst preventing complications of immobility.

A mobility care plan is a personalized document outlining specific mobility support needs, transfer techniques, equipment requirements, fall prevention strategies, and goals for maintaining independence. It's created following a comprehensive mobility assessment by qualified professionals.

Common causes include arthritis, stroke, fractures, muscle weakness, balance problems, chronic conditions like Parkinson's or dementia, fear of falling, pain, and medication side effects. Our mobility care addresses these underlying causes while supporting safe movement.

Poor mobility includes difficulty walking distances, frequent falls, inability to transfer safely, reliance on mobility aids, balance problems, muscle weakness, or complete immobility requiring assistance with all movement and positioning.

We assist through safe transfer techniques, mobility aid training, environmental modifications, fall prevention strategies, positioning support, gentle exercise encouragement, and equipment provision whilst always maintaining dignity and promoting independence where possible.

Common complications include pressure sores, blood clots, muscle weakness, joint stiffness, circulation problems, and increased fall risk. Our mobility care focuses on preventing these complications through proper positioning, movement, and specialized care techniques.

What Our Families Say

All the carers were very friendly and made a real effort to engage with Mum and she loved chatting with them all. Even when there was snow and ice on the ground, the carers made a real effort to get to the house by parking several streets away and walking to the house. When they were going to be delayed they phoned to let us know. They were all just awesome!

Twelve Trees has been providing support and care for my best friend for several years. In all that time, they have never dropped the ball once. Not only have they taken care of my friend, they have supported me in my role, always, offering advice and taking the pressure off where they could. Their carers are all well trained, efficient, on time, patient and empathetic, and what it says on the tin, they care! After bad experiences with two other companies, my doctor told me they were the best in the area - they are! Thank you for everything!

This is a lovely place with a great atmosphere of calm. The staff are so helpful - provided me with advice and support at a time when I badly needed it . My husband attended as a day client for many months and although he couldn’t remember much of the activities day to day because of his Alzheimer’s he did always respond positively to the atmosphere .

Twelve Trees carers have been looking after our aunty during the last year and until she recently went into the care home. They treated her beautifully and made sure she was showered, clean, medicated and well-fed during their visits as she gradually declined in self-care due to dementia. She is lovely and sociable and appreciative of their time. And as a family, it brought us peace of mind that she was set up for the day. She just became too lonely and sad (and a bit dangerous!) to stay at home any longer. Thank you Twelve Trees.
