We provide 24 hour live in care to most areas in London. See our dedicated London area pages below.
Live-in care costs in Sussex typically range from £1,650 to £1,850 per week in 2025. This provides 24-hour support with a dedicated carer living in your home. Prices can vary based on the complexity of care needs, whether specialist dementia or palliative care is required, and specific circumstances. Sussex pricing is generally comparable to the UK average, though slightly higher than some northern regions and lower than London rates. This weekly cost includes the carer's time, expertise, availability throughout day and night, and ongoing management support. It's significantly more cost-effective than paying for multiple daily visits when substantial support is needed.
We provide live-in care services across both East Sussex and West Sussex. Our coverage includes major coastal towns like Brighton & Hove, Eastbourne, Worthing, Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea, and Littlehampton, as well as inland areas including Chichester, Crawley, Horsham, and Lewes. We also serve rural communities throughout the South Downs and countryside villages across both counties. Our carers understand the unique aspects of Sussex living, from coastal communities to rural settings, and can support clients throughout the region.
Finding the right live-in carer starts with contacting a reputable CQC-regulated care provider like Twelve Trees Care. We begin with a free home assessment to understand your specific needs, lifestyle preferences, and any particular requirements related to Sussex living (such as accompanying coastal walks or visits to local market towns). We then carefully match you with an experienced carer whose skills, personality, and interests complement yours. This matching process considers not just care needs but also compatibility factors like shared interests, communication style, and understanding of local communities. You'll have the opportunity to meet potential carers before making any commitment.
The NHS may fund live-in care through NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) if you meet strict eligibility criteria for complex medical needs. CHC assessments are conducted by Sussex Integrated Care Systems (covering both East and West Sussex) and consider whether your primary need is healthcare rather than social care. If eligible, CHC covers the full cost of care whether at home or in a care home. However, most people don't qualify for CHC. East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council offer means-tested social care funding, though this is typically directed toward residential care rather than live-in care. Self-funding remains the most common payment method, though benefits like Attendance Allowance can contribute toward costs.
Live-in care has several considerations to weigh carefully. Firstly, your home needs a spare bedroom for the carer, which not all Sussex properties provide, particularly in smaller coastal flats or cottages. Some people find having someone living in their home feels intrusive initially, though most adjust quickly. Live-in care is more expensive than visiting care for those needing only minimal support. If you live in a remote rural area of the South Downs or countryside, emergency backup carers may take longer to reach you compared to urban areas. The carer works alone, so if they become unwell, replacement arrangements must be made quickly. Some people with very complex medical needs requiring multiple professional interventions throughout the night may need nursing home care instead. Finally, social interaction is primarily with one carer rather than multiple people, though carers can facilitate community connections and outings across Sussex's vibrant towns and coastal areas.
All the carers were very friendly and made a real effort to engage with Mum and she loved chatting with them all. Even when there was snow and ice on the ground, the carers made a real effort to get to the house by parking several streets away and walking to the house. When they were going to be delayed they phoned to let us know. They were all just awesome!
Twelve Trees has been providing support and care for my best friend for several years. In all that time, they have never dropped the ball once. Not only have they taken care of my friend, they have supported me in my role, always, offering advice and taking the pressure off where they could. Their carers are all well trained, efficient, on time, patient and empathetic, and what it says on the tin, they care! After bad experiences with two other companies, my doctor told me they were the best in the area - they are! Thank you for everything!
This is a lovely place with a great atmosphere of calm. The staff are so helpful - provided me with advice and support at a time when I badly needed it . My husband attended as a day client for many months and although he couldn’t remember much of the activities day to day because of his Alzheimer’s he did always respond positively to the atmosphere .
Twelve Trees carers have been looking after our aunty during the last year and until she recently went into the care home. They treated her beautifully and made sure she was showered, clean, medicated and well-fed during their visits as she gradually declined in self-care due to dementia. She is lovely and sociable and appreciative of their time. And as a family, it brought us peace of mind that she was set up for the day. She just became too lonely and sad (and a bit dangerous!) to stay at home any longer. Thank you Twelve Trees.
I have been using this service since August 2020,m during this time I have been very happy with all aspects of the service. All carers have arrived on time and have been very friendly and efficient.
