Live-in care in Brighton & Hove typically costs between £1,650 and £1,850 per week in 2025. This provides 24-hour support with a dedicated carer living in your home. The cost includes all the carer's time, expertise, and availability throughout day and night, plus ongoing management support and emergency cover. Brighton pricing reflects the city's cost of living and is generally in line with other major UK coastal cities. For couples both requiring care, one live-in carer can often support both people, making the per-person cost significantly more affordable. This represents better value than multiple daily visits, which at Brighton rates of £22-38 per hour would cost considerably more for equivalent coverage.
Live-in care in Brighton includes comprehensive 24-hour support from a dedicated carer who lives in your home. This covers personal care assistance (washing, dressing, mobility support), medication management and health monitoring, meal preparation tailored to dietary needs and preferences, companionship and emotional support, light housekeeping and laundry, and accompaniment to appointments and local activities. Brighton carers can help you maintain connections to the seafront, attend cultural events, visit local shops and cafes, or simply enjoy walks along the promenade. The service also includes ongoing care management, regular reviews, and 24/7 emergency support from our management team.
Whether live-in care is better than a care home depends on individual circumstances and preferences. Live-in care in Brighton allows you to remain in familiar surroundings, maintain your independence and daily routines, and keep connections to your neighbourhood, local community, and Brighton's seafront. You receive dedicated one-to-one attention rather than care shared among multiple residents. Brighton care homes typically cost £1,300-£2,200+ per week and provide 24-hour professional staff, social activities with other residents, and purpose-designed facilities. Live-in care works best for those determined to stay at home, whilst care homes suit those who would benefit from more social interaction or require intensive nursing care that live-in carers cannot provide
Yes, live-in care requires a spare bedroom where your carer can sleep and have private time during their breaks. This doesn't need to be a large room, but it should be comfortable and reasonably private. Many Brighton properties, particularly flats in central areas or Regency conversions, may have limited space, which can make live-in care challenging. If you don't have a suitable spare bedroom, alternative options include visiting care with multiple daily calls or considering whether any room could be adapted. The carer also needs reasonable access to bathroom facilities and space in the kitchen for their own food preparation.
Absolutely. One of the key benefits of live-in care in Brighton is maintaining your connection to the city you love. Your carer can accompany you on seafront walks, trips to local shops and cafes, visits to Brighton Marina, outings to the Lanes or North Laine, attendance at cultural venues like the Theatre Royal or Brighton Dome, visits to friends or community groups, and medical appointments at local surgeries or the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Carers understand Brighton's layout, transport links, and local amenities. This accompaniment ensures safety whilst maintaining your independence and social connections throughout the city.
If your live-in carer becomes unwell, we have comprehensive backup arrangements to ensure you're never without support. We maintain a pool of experienced relief carers who can step in at short notice, and we aim to send someone who has already worked with you or who knows your care plan well. Our 24/7 management team coordinates emergency cover immediately, ensuring seamless continuity of care. In most cases, we can arrange replacement cover within a few hours. This is a key advantage of working with an established agency like Twelve Trees Care rather than employing a carer privately, where illness would leave you without any backup support.
Yes, our live-in carers are trained in specialist dementia care and many have extensive experience supporting people with Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and other forms of dementia. Live-in care works particularly well for dementia because it provides consistency, familiarity, and routine in your own home, which helps reduce confusion and anxiety. Carers can maintain connections to familiar Brighton locations that trigger positive memories, such as regular walks on the seafront or visits to favourite local places. We can coordinate with Brighton & Hove memory services, attend appointments at local memory clinics, and work with community mental health teams to ensure comprehensive support as dementia progresses.
All the carers were very friendly and made a real effort to engage with Mum and she loved chatting with them all. Even when there was snow and ice on the ground, the carers made a real effort to get to the house by parking several streets away and walking to the house. When they were going to be delayed they phoned to let us know. They were all just awesome!
Twelve Trees has been providing support and care for my best friend for several years. In all that time, they have never dropped the ball once. Not only have they taken care of my friend, they have supported me in my role, always, offering advice and taking the pressure off where they could. Their carers are all well trained, efficient, on time, patient and empathetic, and what it says on the tin, they care! After bad experiences with two other companies, my doctor told me they were the best in the area - they are! Thank you for everything!
This is a lovely place with a great atmosphere of calm. The staff are so helpful - provided me with advice and support at a time when I badly needed it . My husband attended as a day client for many months and although he couldn’t remember much of the activities day to day because of his Alzheimer’s he did always respond positively to the atmosphere .
Twelve Trees carers have been looking after our aunty during the last year and until she recently went into the care home. They treated her beautifully and made sure she was showered, clean, medicated and well-fed during their visits as she gradually declined in self-care due to dementia. She is lovely and sociable and appreciative of their time. And as a family, it brought us peace of mind that she was set up for the day. She just became too lonely and sad (and a bit dangerous!) to stay at home any longer. Thank you Twelve Trees.
I have been using this service since August 2020,m during this time I have been very happy with all aspects of the service. All carers have arrived on time and have been very friendly and efficient.
